Residents of coastal Kenya were panicked by a maritime invasion of swimming elephants, an animal that has a reputation in the country for being far deadlier than lions or crocodiles. The latest clash between humans and the elephants occurred when the animals plunged into the Indian Ocean and headed for an island in the Larnu Archipelago, a little more than a mile offshore.
